since i should be headed to bed, i thought i'd just post a few more pics instead of spending half and hour writing something up... (time~10:23PM)

NYC

so our trip to NYC... we really did have sooooo much fun.
the city really is amazing, not to mention that my sister lives there :)

for me, that is what the trip was about... visiting my sister.
she spoiled us all.

here are some pics and stories to document the trip.
i am genuinely sad (mad) i didnt take more pictures... of more of the places we went.
(like all the places we ate, the markets, china town, dave and i at Chicago, and a picture of dave at all would have been nice.)

oh well, i'll get over it... just another reason to go back someday. i am however slowly forgiving myself for not getting more pics... well, because i was trying to keep track of a 2 year old in NYC. i suppose that is a bit more important than fulfilling my scrapping desires. on to the trip...



first stop... MSLO, workplace of my sister.

VERY VERY cool environment... white, glass, clean lines, fun organization... with hints of color and creativity everywhere... we got to see the test kitchen and some studios... so much fun. we got to meet quite a few of my sister's co-workers... all of whom were so so so friendly and nice. beautiful people. inside and out.



then, dinner here... dallas BBQ. dave loved it... i'm not a big BBQ fan, but it was good.

ok, what next. (not sure that i'll be going in order anymore...)

let's just keep talking about food...
(can i say that i have been craving these next 2 places since we got home... and probably will continue to do so until i go back.)

i had MOO SHU FANTASIA (Sauteed shredded cabbage, carrot, glass noodles, mushrooms and soy protein. Served with 4 wheat crêpes) and this. um... yeah. my sister also introduced us to 'edamame'... soy beans.... yummmmm. for real, they are great, i just tracked some down at whole foods market here in town :)

omg... seriously people... it was sooooooooo delicious.

here i had... Spaghetti alla Carbonara - Bacon, Onions, Cream Sauce ... tasty and sinful... hey, i was on vacation!!

do yourself a favor, and eat at both of these places if you ever go to NYC. you'll thank me later :)

we also ate at bubba gump's. im not much for fish, but dave said his mahi mahi was the best he's ever had.



melissa surprised mom and i with pedicures, tasti d-light (YUMM!! yeah, you better get yourself some of this too), and some yummy chocolates... as a belated mother's day gift. soooo much fun to be pampered! oh, and i also got some fun scrapbook goodies at a very fun paper store with my bday gift certificate from my sister :)

the subway... an interesting experience. or what lilly likes to refer to as 'noisy'... and said 'i'm ready' every time it made a stop...

dave and lilly got me a gift card for a massage at The Spa at River Ridge. LOVE this place. NEED a massage... badly. can't wait till school is out so i can drop lilly off with dave for lunch and be pampered!! and i might even get some new teeth... lol. well, not from the spa of course. we will see what the dentist has to say when i go in.

we had a nice weekend... went home and saw both sets of parents, as well as a handful of friends. it's so hard to see and do all while we are home for less than 48 hours, but we try our best to rotate and do the best we can!!

we even saw joe gatchell, if you don't know who that is...well, you are missing out. we got a pic of him on the cell phone, but im not sure that we know how to get that to the computer. ill have to do a 'meet joe gatchell' post someday. and in the meantime, you will just have to wonder....

...oh, we solved (well, we were hinted towards) the post-it note bandits. not at all who we thought but rather some friends from BG who we had no idea were passing through columbus. these are 2 grown adults, with 2 adult sons... by they way. educated, sophisticated, artsy, and very creative. yeah... here's how professional they are... but obviously very very fun:) who else would post-it note someone's house. they crack me up. (and if you are reading, jan and carol, sorry we thought one of you had kid writing!! hehehe)

oh yes, now that i have a few BIG things crossed of my list (and ill have a little time to put together some kind of goodie)... i NEED to draw a name for my 'contest' back on april 30th... im such a slacker.... i'll do that right now!!

If any of you have seen me in the last 6 or so years... you've probably seen me toting around a green Vera Bradley backpack.

I LOVE this thing.

My sister got it for me when I worked at Hallmark... (with my nice little discount).

I use this bag every single day, year round, all seasons... everywhere. A few times here and there a new sort of bag/purse, or a wannabe VB backpack, would try to move in... but I always came right back to the green backpack. the original bag is falling apart, faded, torn, snagged... it's very well loved and it's looking pretty bad.

This year for my birthday, my wonderful wonderful Aunt sent me some money with specific instructions to get something special for myself. the first thing that came to mind? ... a new VB bag. thank goodness for ebay i found a replica of my bag, whose pattern and style has been retired a few years now.

nice to meet you

since i dont have time to post my pic with all my garage sale goodies right now... i thought id share the newest of lilly's sentences :)

a while back we taught her how to say "nice to meet you!"
sometimes she'll even throw in a little hand shake...

so cute... as said by lilly...

"nice to mee chew!"
"nice to mee chew daddy!"
"nice to mee chew mommy!"
"nice to mee chew juicy!"
"nice to mee chew duck!" (said to a pic of a duck on a box at the store)
"nice to mee chew poopy!" (said to, well...)

yes, you read that right... our polite little darling, has a great sense of humor, and has formally introduced herself to her poopy. (which was in her potty, which is a good thing...)

but now, she says this randomly (like tonight in the grovery store), because she knows we think it's funny and we are trying hard to be good parents by telling her... "lilly, that is not nice. we don't talk about our poopy in public." (when really dave and i are looking at each other thinking..."oh my gosh!! she is HILARIOUS!! bwahahahha!!)

so... "nice to mee chew poopy!" has topped the list of lilly's creative sentencing thus far. can't wait to see what else she enlightens us with :)

funny how i actually have a ton i could write about right now, like...

-lilly has started calling me mommy every now and then (she usually only says momma)

-how lilly was prouncing around in a t-shirt, and her purple mesh tu-tu around her knees (yep, that's all) after a trip to the potty

-how lilly says "knee ha!" when she pretends to ride a horse (which could be in the form of a box, a sippy cup, your leg... you name it, it can be a horse)

-how dave is working his butt off to get our cabinets done, so i will be less of a grump

-lilly now has a live in boyfriend (our friends are camping out here for a while)

-national scrapbook day is this weekend (watch here and the MP blog for some fun)

...but i won't keep rambling, cause if you are still reading, im sure you've got something else to do!!

so we came home from a surprise dinner with my parents saturday to find these stuck all over the front of our house...

*they know our names (and spell them correctly)
*they know about dave's workshop project
*they did this in broad daylight

we have a *good* idea of who the culprit is...
but nothing is for certain :)
just a fun little thing to come home to :)

i am a mom

ok... ive been coming to the realization that i am a real mommy now... (not that i wasn't before, but you know what i mean)

i know this because....

~i double tie my own shoes
~i say things like "someone is going to get hurt", "keep your hands to yourself", "this is your last warning", and "one more bite and then you'll be done"
~i wipe someone else's boogers off my hands onto the grass
~i eat fruit snacks, goldfish, and cheerios by the handful
~i catch puke with my bare hands
~i speak to myself in 3rd person
~i can read select books with my eyes closed
~i make up very cute little songs for any occasion
~i skip, hop, jump, around and around and around the house


...of course i thought of a ton of these off and on (everytime i do something so motherly it scares me), but i didnt jot them down, so they've escaped my crowded little mind. maybe next time around i'll make a list (which will really be about 8 different sheets of scrap paper, that get buried in piles) for another post :)

bday weekend

had a good birthday weekend...

-took lilly to see curious george... she did pretty well, with it being her 1st movie! it was cute... has a great soundtrack!
-ate at outback (a little too much, felt sick all night... lol)
-got lots of fun goodies (a scrapbook magazine subscription, scrapping goodies, gift cards to cord camera and hobby lobby, pampered chef measuring spoons, fun storage boxes for the basement shelving, some fun new shirts... and more)
-got 3 singing messages on the answering machine from my mom, dad, and sister (which we listened to about 10 times each... cause lilly just could not hear them enough)


our basement is starting to come together:) the carpet is in... and dave and kin, ("daddykin" or "the guys" as lilly calls them) brought down the bottom of the cabinet tonight!! yeah :) i moved some stuff back downstairs... so soon i should be up and scrapping again. (and mandarin pixie will have its own official home!!)

it feels soooo good to scrap. sometimes i forget how much i enjoy this craft. i really love it... really. its almost better than chocolate ;) erin and i went to a crop last night... very fun, good music (hehehe) and conversation! i must get out of the house more often :)


got my hair cut at charles penzone's this morning (LOVE it there)... it's cute (my hair that is). i feel a bit more hip. not that i was hip to start with. at least it makes me feel a little new :) not the running pants, boogery oversized tshirt mommy that i really am.

lilly keeps calling me 'happy birthday girl' today... hehe. so cute.
then she gets a little peeved when we tell her its my birthday and that hers was last month.

"nooo... me too mama"
"ok baby... you can have fun on mama's birthday too"
"yeah... happy birthday girl"

a surprise easter gift!!

so this year... i got the biggest surprise EVER for easter :)



my sister and her best friend came to visit!!!
...they totally surprised all of us...

(to make a long sappy story... short, but still a bit sappy)

-i hear a knock on the door, so i put down the piece of candy i shouldn't be eating, and peek around the corner, and there they stood
-i think i stood still for about 10 minutes, because my head is thinking "WHUH?? "what is going on?", and then i finally went to the door
-which is when i proceeded to bawl and sob my head off. yeah... like a "wahhh haa haaa haaaa haaaaa" good kind of happy 'i can't believe you are here' cry... on the front porch (i am sure all the neighbors were like "what is wrong with her??") hehhe...

so then mom and dad came down too! this is when mom starts clapping like a seal saying "my family is here... my family is here" (yeah, she's a strange one...)


they've had this trip planned since january!!! they totally had us all...
i still can't believe they were here :)

they came bearing gifts...
lilly was quite enjoying herself parading around in her new attire...


sooo... this moment, it definitely is at the top...

FOTD is Rorie!!

rorie... one of my "IDOS" friends. you see, some people may call me crazy. but i have this little online scrapping family, and rorie is a part of that group i call my friends.

here are some of the things i love about rorie...

*she is a new mommy... (to darling little joey.)

*she's a mandarin pixie stamper!!! (((HUGS)))
*she's a scrapper. and she uses her own handwriting on her LOs which is something i really admire :)
*she's a 'stay at home mom'... the hardest job in the world.
*she's a breastfeeder, one of the most selfless acts you can do for your child (had to list this one!! hehee... that word makes me laugh, kinda sounds like a "birdfeeder")...
*she has a great goofy husband... (who put the letter "Z" on their return address label... even though his name, nor their last name, begins with a Z...HA!! i love that!!)
*she sent me a card once, just to make me smile...
*she sent a card to my sister, just to make her smile...
*she is a simple girl (just like me!!)
*she believes in GOD
*she is truly just the sweetest... and i hope to meet her someday :)

wild child

not only did miss lillian learn to crawl out her crib this weekend... but she also learned how to climb over the (high) gate that I put in her doorway (to keep her in her room if she crawled out of her crib).

i seriously have about 20 gray hairs from this child...

new LO

a LO i just finished up, amidst the demolition of the basement... it is a bit difficult to scrap these days (with all my stuff packed up and a teeny little spot on the floor of our bedroom to work). i just hope its all worth the scrapping deprivation once dave has the basement done :)

so, the current dare is to have your husband (significant other, child,... etc) make a page :)

look what my lovely husband came up with ( he picked out the paper at hobby lobby and everything!)




look at the boy go! hehehe... he even used a MP stamp and i didn't say a WORD about using them (well, not that one... i said he could use them 'in general' if he wanted.)

what really cracks me up, is how much this looks like a layout that i would do. i honestly didnt help him all that much... just a few words of advice and 'construtive criticism' along the way. in fact, i was out of the room most of the time, as lilly was having nothing to do with the family scrapping night.

now, if only this were a regular occurrence, just think of how much scrapping i could get done!!

FOTD is Kelli!!

here she is one of my greatest friends... Kelli
(otherwise know as 'Dan & Kelli')



We met working at Gen's Hallmark in Bowling Green, in college. The day we met, we hit it off... so much so, that we both ended up crying (a good cry) during our first conversation :) We have so much in common, but we are also very different. Turned out that i knew her 'boyfriend' Dan from the church i grew up in. Kelli & Dan (her then boyfriend, now husband!) were in our wedding... and we were in their wedding last summer! (which by the way was the most grand wedding i have EVER been to!!)

The 4 of us have so many great memories... shopping, gossiping, eating, going to the movies, wedding planning & showers, gossiping (heehee). Dan and Kelli now live in Michigan... in a beautiful home, and we are patiently waiting for them to add a little one to their family (even after all the detailed pregnancy, labor, delivery, nursing, and terrible two stories i have enlightend them with). when the time comes, dan and kelli are going to be such fabulous parents.

We miss these 2 people so much (crying a bit here) but i am so glad that we have kept in touch... love you Kelli!!

i was having a bad day last week (a sick, whiny, frustrated, defeated kind of day) and just look at what she sent me!!



these are cookies!! truly truly amazing.... and delicious... and HUGE!! ( i think each one weighs about 1/2 pound!!) lets just say they put a lot of tears on my face as well as one BIG smile :)

i had a 'photo shoot' of them... literally. i think i took about 40 pictures. didn't help much that this little creature could barely stay away from them :)

randomness

randomness starting last night

-FREE lower bowl tickets to the Blue Jackets game (gotta love free stuff, especially free good stuff...wooohoooo!!)
-ate at wendy's before the game, they gave little a skunk toy... which she calls a "PEE-EWWW" (i suppose that is because we told her that skunks are stinky)
-got Lilly a Rick Nash head on a stick thing at the game... she liked it, but was freaked out by it too
-she flirted with the two hot ladies sitting next to us, and turned around pointing at a baby the whole game... oh, she danced too (80's night... much fun)
-left the game early... lilly was out way past her bedtime
-home from the Jackets game in time to see the new OC (yahooooeee!!)
-lilly to bed at 9:00 (oh good, maybe she will sleep in) (....sure)
-up at 1:00 and 1:30 to little girl getting sick all over her crib (poor little thing)
-had the day 'off' from watching kids today
-lilly wakes up at 6:45 (so much for sleeping in... oh wait, i did sleep in for 30 minutes...) she is feeling fine now...
-did errands without a crazy schedule or 'the bank closes in 10 minutes" rush(very nice)
-went to the library and lilly met a new friend lily/lilly. she liked her mom so much she sat on her lap and held her hand to go check out books (AH!!) i am so glad she is not socially deprived... but goodness, i think my lilly would have gone home with the other lily/lilly's mom
-went to Cord Camera and got some nice paper and alpha sticker deals (although i need to go back tomorrow without the drama queen... as i just found out i missed some more good deals!)
-went to dave's office, lilly flirted with eveyone there
-went out to eat with dave for lunch to cosi (1st time visit, it was ok...)
-came home and napped... i napped too (ah... i miss that, A LOT)
-watched ELLEN while we waited for daddy to get home... ellen danced to CALIFORNIA LOVE... love love love that... one of my top ten favorite songs!!! (if i had a list...)
-went to wal-mart to get some stuff for a meal with friends on sunday
-lilly says "PEE-EWWW" about half the time we are there... (she was crabby so i started asking her animal sounds... mistakenly asked about a skunk, and she was all set for the rest of the trip)
-home for a bath, hair dried, pj's on, story read, prayers said, rocking done... kisses goodnight...
-and here i sit waiting for dave to be done on ebay so we can watch a movie.

my friday nights rule!

language with lilly (part 1)

lilly's vocab and 'phrases' are exploding at the moment... thought id share just a few off the top of my head :)

my = mine (this is said very often... my juice, my baby, my socks... said happily or angrily, or during a battle of 'who does this belong to' with the 2 other 2 year olds in the house)

way wake! = wake up (this is screamed as loud as her little lungs allow)

key up = clean up (glad this is in the vocab at all!)

daddy = daddy (this is said before and after many other words)

mama = mommy (this is also said before and after many other words)

puh puh daddy = pick me up daddy (she used to say 'bup' for up, but that recently changed when she figured out how to make phrases)

i keem = ice cream (this is also screamed at the top of her toddler lungs, as "i scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM" is a line in one of her favorite songs)

scuse = excuse me (this is after burping or tooting...)

scuse daddy = excuse you daddy (see above)

que me = excuse me (as in, get out of my way)

que mama = excuse me mommy (as in, get of of my way mom)

tay too = thank you

burgher = burger (favorite out to eat food of the moment)

cool = cool (this is hilarious... our 2 year old's choice adjective, and she knows how to use it!)

guhn = good

kees = kiss

catch = catch, i caught you/it, i'm gonna catch you (one word, 3 uses... good idea)

and our favorite thus far... a very nice little sentence that our precious adorable little baby girl put together all by herself...

"boogey out, daddy look!"

a new page

something quick... heres a new LO... totally inspired by one of missy's (not my sister missy)LOs, look here. she is truly awesome... amazing how my LO looks nothing like her LO. ah well, its another page done, and i tried...

this was done for 'the dares' challenge... 'cycles' over at 2peas. i thought of our nightly routine, and how lilly has a few things that used to be mine... 2 cycles in one.

a loooong weekend...

we took at little trip home this weekend...
had many nice vists with friends a family...
that makes for one very tired mommy.
we enjoy our vists, but it makes me sad we dont get to see eveyone more often. i hope to post pictures from our visits soon :)

but for now, a picture from friday.
surprisingly, i got this adorable picture... not long after almost pulling my hair out.

(i like to bake with the kids, and they love it :) well, before i could get this too too cute picture here is what we went through...)

-2 eggs broken on the floor (1 by me, 1 by lilly)

-lilly chugging cinnamon (ooh lilly) followed by some gags and lilly saying 'ucky' and 'messy' (well, yeah...)

-one head hit on the corner of the counter (it was the little guy i watch... hes right at counter height...) he was so sad...sobbing. while he is crying... i give him a big hug and say...
"are you ready to make cookies now?"
he says "nooooo..."
i ask "why not?"
he says "im still cryin'".... (oh i LOVE these kids!!) sooo fun :)

-oh and lastly (i think) lilly unscrews the lid off my 3/4 full water bottle and dumps it all over the counter, trickling down the barstool all over her lap and the floor. but she did enjoy cleaning it up.

and the cutest picture of them admiring their work(you'd never know the drama that got us here...)

*someone in turkey may have stolen your card number.
*someone in turkey may be making 3 huge (= $2,000+) debits from your checking account.
*someone in turkey may have a few flat sceen TV's on you.

and you will be waiting a few annoying weeks to pay your bills.

she's ok!

as most of you know, lilly's test results came back fine! just a little extra fatty tissue in that one cheek, but nothing at all to be concerned about!! thank you thank you thank you ALL for all your thoughts and prayers... it was so comforting to know that we had so many people rooting for us during this time! !((HUGS))

just sent out an email update on miss lilly's testing today... but i thought id share this page that i did as a little scrap therapy yesterday. i actually used my handwriting... which i want to do more. i want to like my handwriting. have a happy weekend!
